Fear=Death
Digital Collage Series
This body of work is a series of digital collages that focus on the aftermath of what has transpired from Covid 19. Fear=Death is a reactionary series that brings forth the many perspectives and variables that have been disentangled either through our government or through media outlets. The pieces in this series act as one cumulative social commentary on how the situation has unfolded with this pandemic and takes into account the various responses from the general public. I worked a lot with text art during this series, mostly because there is an abundance of “highlight” words that are being used excessively in the public realm that I wanted to further bring attention to. There were certain methods I used in how I wanted to appropriate text and enhance it through digital manipulation to give it a bigger impact aesthetically. One example would be with Open Dialogue, where I took hundreds of different fonts, layered them on top of each other, transformed them to look nonlinear in order to create this chaotic environment. Combining social issues with satire, each of the digital collages that I have constructed brings forth their own narratives of not only what my deep inner feelings are about the pandemic, but what I am confident that a majority of others may feel as well.
