The Department of Art & Art History is an innovative, interdisciplinary laboratory program focused on the practice and history of art. With a focus on contemporary art production, the coursework in the Art Practice program ranges in approach from the traditional fine arts to digital, intermedia practices. The History of Art program presents the rich tradition of art in both the Western and non-Western art worlds, alongside coursework in archeology, anthropology, religious studies, and modern languages. Instruction integrates technical fundamentals and conceptualization, creative experimentation and critical thinking, personal expression, and social responsibility. Our engaging courses will connect you to new ways of artmaking through the range if disciplines and materials that you will learn.
